Metabolism and blood sugar
6 itemsSleepiness after meals, cravings for something sweet after lunch, a growing waistline: this is how insulin resistance and metabolic problems can start. We test insulin, HOMA-IR, HbA1c and uric acid, which catch these problems early.

What we don't test, and why
More tests aren't better. In healthy people, the tests below cause more worry and unnecessary follow-up than real benefit.
See the list and the reasons▼
Tumour markers (CEA, CA-125, CA 19-9, AFP)They don't detect cancer in people without symptoms. Why▼
They can be raised in harmless conditions and normal despite disease. The right screening tests are the smear test, mammography and colonoscopy; your doctor will remind you when they're due.
PSAAs a routine test it leads to an unnecessary biopsy more often than it finds serious disease. Why▼
This applies to men without symptoms or a family history. We decide on PSA individually at the consultation, depending on age and history.
CortisolA single blood measurement usually tells you nothing. Why▼
The result depends on the time of day, sleep and stress. Adrenal disorders are diagnosed with 24-hour or dynamic tests, ordered when there are specific symptoms.
D-dimerIt's a test for ruling out blood clots in people with symptoms. Why▼
In healthy people it's often falsely positive and sets off a cascade of imaging with no benefit.
MagnesiumBlood levels say little about how much magnesium your body actually holds. Why▼
Almost all magnesium sits in bones and cells. A normal result doesn't rule out a deficiency, and an abnormal one rarely changes treatment.
Vitamin DSupplementing in autumn and winter is recommended whatever the result. Why▼
Both the Polish recommendations and the Endocrine Society's 2024 guidelines say routine testing isn't needed in healthy people. We order it for malabsorption, kidney or liver disease and other situations where the result changes the dose.
Rheumatology tests (RF, ANA, anti-CCP)They come back positive in a few percent of healthy people. Why▼
Without joint pain or swelling, such a result means months of worry and more appointments. We order them when there are symptoms.

What's next
You're not left alone with your results
If your results look good, you get a plan for the year and a reminder when it's time for a check. If there's something to work on, the doctor suggests concrete steps, and you decide whether to take them with us, under a doctor's and a dietitian's care. You don't have to decide now! The Checkup is a one-off purchase.
Tests are easy to forget: they matter, but they're never urgent. That's why we keep track of the dates, not you.

Questions
Before you buy
Will I have to keep paying after the Checkup?▼
No. The Checkup is a one-off purchase: tests, results, consultation and plan. Further care is a separate decision you make after talking to the doctor, if you need it at all. We don't store your card and there are no automatic renewals.
What if something comes up?▼
That's exactly what the consultation is for. The doctor explains what the result means, whether it needs action and what kind. If needed, they'll issue an e-prescription or e-referral and suggest next steps. You're not left with a PDF and a search engine.
Where do I give blood and what's it like?▼
At any of Diagnostyka's 1,300 collection points across Poland. After purchase you get a code by SMS, show it at the point, and the draw takes a quarter of an hour. Come fasting (8–12 hours without food), ideally in the morning after a good night's sleep. You don't need to register or book unless the point requires it.
How long does it take from purchase to plan?▼
You get the code within 24 hours. Results are ready 2–5 days after the draw. You book the consultation in the calendar, usually within a week. If you go for the blood draw straight away, the whole thing takes about two weeks. The referral never expires, so you can also wait for a convenient time.
How does the 50% discount on further tests work?▼
After the Checkup, every further test at Diagnostyka costs half price. The discount covers the whole price list, not just tests our doctor orders, and it never expires. So it applies to a follow-up next month as much as to next year's Checkup.
Are these real doctors? Who runs the consultation?▼
Yes. Consultations are run by Dr Alicja Dudek and Dr Wojciech Sierocki, the doctors who designed this panel. Optimals sp. z o.o. is a registered healthcare provider in the Polish RPWDL register.
Why 73 markers and not 100?▼
Because more isn't better. Every test in the panel answers a specific question about metabolism, heart, liver, kidneys, thyroid, blood or inflammation. We deliberately left out tests that do more harm than good in people without symptoms, and we explain why above. If your situation calls for more, the doctor will order it at the consultation.
Can I get the same through the NFZ (Polish public healthcare)?▼
Partly. A GP can order a blood count, glucose, a lipid panel, TSH or liver tests. They won't order apolipoprotein B, lipoprotein(a), insulin, HOMA-IR, routine ferritin or homocysteine, and they usually have a few minutes to go through the results. The Checkup exists to do it once, completely and with a conversation.
Where does the 1,799 PLN figure come from?▼
1,599 PLN is the sum of the prices of the same 35 panel tests bought one by one in the Diagnostyka shop (diag.pl) for a Warsaw collection point, as of 22 September 2026 (including a blood count at 26.60 PLN, ferritin 75.05 PLN, homocysteine 123.50 PLN, apolipoprotein B 92.25 PLN, lipoprotein(a) 70.30 PLN, anti-tTG 133.29 PLN). We add 200 PLN for a 30-minute doctor's consultation to go through the results. Prices in other cities and during promotions can be lower.
What happens to my data?▼
As a healthcare provider we process your results and records under the GDPR, on servers in the European Union. Only the doctor running your consultation and you have access. We don't sell data or use it for advertising.
I can't fast, or I'm scared of needles. What then?▼
Fasting is necessary, otherwise glucose, insulin and the lipid panel won't be reliable. Pick a morning slot, drink water and eat straight after. If you tend to faint, tell the staff: they'll take blood while you lie down. It's one draw for the whole panel.
